Dang ya’ll, January is almost over. How Sway?! The year just started.
I’ve been busting my writing hump over here. This month, I contributed my first pieces to the BBC (whoop whoop!) and I’ve booked a new blogging client (Yay!)
And I got my second paying subscriber to this Substack! You got my heart!! Thanks!!!
The gratitude I feel for these blessings is made even greater by the fact that so many of my fellow media friends were laid off this month. My LinkedIn feed is super depressing.
I’m putting out a Friday FOMO list every week in the hopes that things turn around!
On the bright side, I got to pen some pretty funny stuff about celebrities behaving badly and kids learning cursive around the world.
Ya know… feel good stuff that should make you smile with your mouth open.
8 Surprising Things That Can Get You Detained at the Airport
Arnold Schwarzenegger was held up at Munich airport for nearly three hours after allegedly failing to declare an Audemars Piguet watch valued over €10,000 (£8,580)…Under the right circumstances, any of us could be in Arnold's shoes. When packing for an important trip, it is easy to miss travel regulations in the prep.
Three things not to do when travelling to US National Parks
Pierce Brosnan's alleged “bad tourist” moment is a reminder to be a safe traveller in US National Parks. In addition to unique park rules, keep these three things in mind.
California signs cursive writing into law – what are the brain benefits?
From the start of 2024, the state of California reinstated the requirement that first through sixth graders in public schools learn to write in cursive. The handwriting technique stopped being taught in the Golden State in 2010, but now California re-joins nearly two dozen US states that have made cursive education mandatory in some form.
I’m incredibly grateful to the clients I’ve kept over the years. You know who you are.
And I’m excited to work with new ones!
I still have 7 client slots available for 2024, so please don’t hesitate to reach out about freelance content and copy or magazine assignments. I’m a generalist with a deep knowledge of home décor, design, global real estate, money, personal finance, travel, family, culture & events. I enjoy researching new things and writing in layman’s terms.
Let’s collab this year!
