Why does diabetic eye disorder, glaucoma, and cataracts disproportionately affect Black patients?
Seeking medical experts to provide brief (5-10 sentence) answers to these questions:
Black Americans face disproportionately high rates of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and other vision conditions - why is that? Is it genetic, behavioral, or environmental?
How can clinicians improve early detection through screening, patient education, and timely referrals while also addressing cataracts and diabetic eye disease as major threats to vision?
What are some practical strategies for preserving eye health across the lifespan and reducing preventable blindness?
